takahiro mukai : stutter causes

Impressions:
I feel like I’m rocketing forward through space-time in a mechanical cube inside a discotheque inside a mechanical sphere inside another discotheque in the basement.

Information:
Takahiro Mukai is a prolific artist that is constantly churning out these rhythmic monstrosities. Some are clean and dance friendly.  Some are dirty and menacing. All of them are great!

circuitnoise : corrupted cloud transmissions

impressions:
hazy databent landscapes

information:
I found this release through the great German label Attenuation Circuit.  I don’t know anything about this project but it’s a great digital, glitchy, ambient release.  The CD has some great artwork too.

loscil / fieldhead : fury and hecla

impressions:
a slow churning wave along the lakeshore. a foggy morning

information:
This is collaborative release between Loscil and Fieldhead.  Apparently Fury and Hecla is a place midway between their home bases.  I wish I had great place names around me like that. If I tried this with someone the midway location would be something like Ding Dong and Goat City.

wave temples : keys to the inner island

impressions:
there are warbling waves of magenta splintering down my tongue
thick exoticism in a sapphire shell
this tape reflects an image of me wearing a distant technicolor flower suit

information:
This is a tape from the Rainbow Pyramid label.  I think Wave Temples is a project by the same person that runs the label.  Wave Temples has a wonderfully cohesive homogeny across their works. Having grown up in Florida, their ‘Old Florida’ aesthetic really resonates with me.  This is a realm that I could dwell in for a long long time.

path to lobster believers : in its place, learning flowers

Impressions:
In my backyard, trucks are rolling around on top of malfunctioning sprinklers and static water is drowning the garden.
Someone out there is screaming.

Information:
This is a project by Angel Marcloid.  She is incredibly prolific. There are countless hours releases to dig in to if you’re looking for a weirdo lofi noise galaxy to live in.

M/M : before we lost ourselves

impressions:
warm shades of autumn echoing through the forest and in through the windows of a cozy woodland cottage

information:
This is from the czaszka label out of the UK.  They have a very cool visual aesthetic to their releases.  Definitely a worthwhile discography to invest some time exploring.

homogenized terrestrials : the contaminist

impressions:
infinite darkness lights a bright room
spectral shivers beam out before me in shades of sunset
there is nothing but a synthetic, pyramid-shaped deity left inside my tiny golden mind

information:
I don’t know much about this artist.  I believe it is the same person that runs the Rainbow Pyramid label.  I really enjoy the aesthetic of their releases. There are several other releases by Shadows Of Vibrate that are worth checking out as well if you’re into this spacy new age minimalism.

homogenized terrestrials : the contaminist

impressions:
super chill organics brewed in a pristine wilderness of sound

information:
Homogenized Terrestrials is the solo electronics project of Phillip Klampe.  He has a large discography of releases available on Bandcamp. They range from subtle ambient manipulations to releases like this; which move across vast and evocative landscapes.  This release of his is one of my favorites.
